Today I’m sharing a look back at the most popular gluten-free recipes I published in 2019.

This year I focused less on brand-new recipes and more on improving the ones already on the site. I updated many recipes with new photos, clearer instructions, and better tips, and tested different flour blends and dairy-free options where applicable. Those changes are intended to help more home cooks succeed with each recipe.
I also worked behind the scenes on how the site displays recipes and on improving performance. I’m converting my recipes to a new printable card format and optimizing site speed. Once that’s finished next month, I’ll be able to concentrate on sharing the new recipes I’ve been developing in the kitchen.
If you want to see prior years’ most popular lists, I’ve been sharing roundups for several years. You can find the 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, and 2013 lists on the blog. I’ve been posting recipes for seven years and it’s been a joy to watch favorites change over time.
On the site you can always view current top recipes from the sidebar on desktop or by scrolling to the bottom on mobile. I enjoy watching those lists evolve as readers try and share recipes.
Now, here are the ten most popular new gluten-free recipes from 2019:
10 Most Popular New Gluten-free Recipes of 2019:
10. Squeaking in at number ten is my gluten-free apple bread. I finally perfected the texture and the topping this year after several attempts, and I’m pleased with how this loaf turned out.

9. A simple garlicky guacamole recipe made the list. I make this several times a month for taco nights and nachos—the garlic adds great depth of flavor.

8. Because readers requested it for years, I shared a gluten-free cheesecake this year. It’s a classic baked cheesecake that you can top with fruit, nuts, caramel, or your favorite topping.

7. Instant Pot dairy-free mashed potatoes were a hit, especially around the holidays. Making them in the Instant Pot frees up the stovetop and eliminates the need to watch boiling pots.

6. Gluten-free Buckeye Brownies have been on the blog since early days, but this year I updated the post with step-by-step photos, video, and tips. It’s a multi-step treat worth the effort for special occasions.

5. My gluten-free pot roast made in the slow cooker was one of the very first recipes I posted. This year I gave it a photo and instruction refresh so it’s easier to follow and more appealing.

4. Gluten-free oatmeal chocolate chip cookies were popular, and these are dairy-free as well. The recipe makes a large batch and stores well for snacking.

3. Crockpot gluten-free chili is a longtime family favorite that I finally shared on the blog this year. It’s a comforting, easy-to-make meal that’s perfect for busy days and gatherings.

2. Gluten-free beef stew made in the slow cooker was the second most popular new recipe of 2019. Soup and stew recipes are reader favorites, and I plan to share more in the coming years.

1. The most popular recipe of 2019 was my gluten-free carrot cake. Although I originally posted it in 2014, I updated and republished it this year with refreshed photos and improved tips.

Two other favorites I don’t want you to miss:
Gluten-free chocolate strawberry layer cake was one of the prettiest and most requested desserts I made this year. Guests loved it so much I made it twice in one week.

My family also can’t get enough of gluten-free peanut butter butterscotch chocolate chip cookies. The combination of butterscotch and chocolate complements the peanut butter base perfectly.

Thanks for joining me for another gluten-free year on the blog. If you’ve tried any of the recipes above, please leave a star rating on the recipe page and share any tips in the comments—those help other readers a lot.
