Happy Memorial Day! I hope you’re enjoying time with family and friends and celebrating the unofficial start of summer.
If you need a last-minute recipe for a Memorial Day cookout, these 5 Ingredient Turkey and Spinach Burgers are perfect. They’re simple, delicious, and easy to prepare.
Sometimes I buy ground turkey to make a quick bolognese—brown the meat, add a jar of marinara, and top with basil if I’m feeling fancy. Recently I wanted a change, and while defrosting frozen chopped spinach, I decided to combine it with turkey to make burgers. With buns on hand and a cast iron skillet ready, I made these indoors for the same satisfying BBQ flavor without firing up the grill.

They’re incredibly easy to make: combine the ingredients, let the mixture rest in the fridge for a bit to let flavors meld, then cook until golden and cooked through.
Is organic meat worth it?
Organic foods must meet strict standards. Organic produce is grown without synthetic pesticides and toxic chemicals, and organic meat and poultry are raised without routine antibiotics or added growth hormones. Organic livestock standards include year-round access to the outdoors (though organic is not the same as free-range), certified organic land, good animal health and welfare practices, and a diet of certified organic feed with limited exceptions.
Nutritional considerations for organic meat
Research suggests some nutritional differences: one study reported higher omega-3 fatty acid levels in organic livestock, likely related to more grazing. For meat and poultry, choosing organic can offer benefits. If budget is a concern, consider reducing the amount of meat you eat and using higher-quality organic options when possible.

One way to stretch your budget while using quality meat is to mix it with vegetables. In these burgers I used frozen spinach—an inexpensive ingredient that adds fiber, antioxidants, and volume so you get more burgers for your dollar. It’s an easy strategy to balance quality and cost.
